as you have taken admission in this year and to be eligible for gate you shpuld complete 3 year of engineering(6 sem) after that only you can appear for gate exam and you need to read all the required details about eligibility of exam
you can check out official website for the eligiCandidates should have completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or Master's degree (M.Sc) in any relevant science subject or must be in the final year of the programme. While applying for GATE , there is no minimum pass percentage in the qualifying exam

As you have mentioned starting your undergraduation in 2019 , you will complete your undergraduation in the year 2023. Basically the criteria is that All candidates applying for GATE must have completed their Bachelors degree or must be in their final year of their graduation. Students who have completed their Bachelors degree are required to submit passing certificate and if you are currently in your final year, you must submit a certificate from your institutes principal. Do check the below link for more information on the eligibility of taking GATE exam( though the link states about 2020, the criteria mostly will not Change, like there will be no major changes).

If you took admission in year 2019 then you can give gate exam in your fourth year of engineering or after completion of engineering and there is no age limit and you can give it any number of times.
