Hi Aspirant,

It's good that you have appeared in so many mocks.

Till now,you must have realised what are your strong as well as weak areas.

Try to improve the areas in which you're weak and feel that you need improvement.

Also, master the areas of your strength.

Keep up your good effort and calculate where you are and where you need to be.

Refrain from thinking about the marks a lot,as it will only build unnecessary pressure.

Keep Calm and Work. You'll surely achieve success.

Hope this helps.

Hello Aspirant,

Try to find out your weaknesses and strengths and work on it properly.Do keep in mind that you must not neglect any topic.Even if you feel its easy do it again because sometimes we leave question which we find easy without trying and if the same question comes up in exam we are unable to solve it so do keep that in mind that this wont happens to you.

Working in your weakness is the best idea to cope up with the mistakes so get it clear as soon as possible and you will score your desired marks.

I hope this helps.

First of all Its good to see that you are making serious efforts towards scoring in Cat and you have given right amount of mocks for them as well.

The second thing is, your scores are commendable, you just need a slight edge to push them up.

Third thing is you need to understand that your current percentile is among the top few % of people who are appearing for mocks which have level higher than the original Cat paper.

On an average a boost of 5-10 percentile is experienced by students in Cat compared to their mocks.

The last is for the 4-5 percentile left between 94-99 has to be achieved by 2 things Time management and Question selection.

You are giving mocks in Quantity, assess yourself compared to people who are performing better. From the data of all these mocks start forming a pattern of questions that go wrong, Understand and identify the type of questions that you are 50-50 with always and end up doing them wrong.

Also see what is the average time of you solving a question vs the national average.

For every section you must identify 20 questions which have to be solved correctly. The rest of them are bonus.

In English you need to start with RCs and then go for Parajumbles and Blanks or any variables that are present this year. This approach helps you to cover up questions fast. Because Cat RCs are normally shorter than mocks but they have closer options. So one RC solved can help you get around 15 marks.

3 RCs correctly solved and you have the confidence of at least 80%ile. And if you have 4-5 solved with 20 mins left you are already around 90-95%ile. Now go for bonus round the blanks, Parajumbles or variables.

For LR conversion rate is less so take enough time for questions but make sure to do around 15 questions right. This is where 99%ile guys were in Cat17.

In Quant small one line/ 2 line questions have to be found first and finished. This will secure 15-30 marks in less than 20 mins. You will have a confidence boost + marks in pocket. Use rest of the time for harder ones and push in this section as much as possible. You can do 30 questions right here and push your score out of bounds as this is possible, given that CAT comes with easy Quant sections to allow Non-Engineers have a chance for IIMs.

Imagine an ideal condition where you attempt only 60/100 questions and all are correct, you will get eligible from All IIMs.

But this is not always possible so attempt around 70 questions for some security.

Before Cat you should be so confident that you should know I am good with these questions and I am not good with these and play with them only.

Cat is less about preparations and more about strategy so keep that in mind.

Hope this Helps,

All the best.

There is no ideal score sometimes if the difficulty goes up you may end up to 60-70 Marks too, dont be discouraged if that happens.
But on an average somewhere near to 140-150 is good enough for mocks.
For Cat push 170+

Hello Arnav,

Effectively one month is left for CAT 2018 examination. It is too short a period to go back and study all the topics once again. I liked your approach of giving many mock examinations and also your motivation to work hard and score in CAT examination.

I suggest you to go through all your mock examnitions that you have given till now. Try solving the questions which you were not able to attempt or were difficult to you. Further, make a detailed analysis of the entire paper by going through solutions. Make a note of few important topics that you come across and revise them. Follow this procedure for all the mocks and you will be able to cover maximum of the syllabus. This will naturally help you to increase your scores.

Good Luck.
