Hi ..I want to be an IAS like civils side ..and i completed my 12th grade ..and now i am struck ...is it better to take b.tech for 4yrs and then prepare 1 year for civils ...or join an institute with BA.+IAS coaching for 3 yrs ..pls give advice
Hey,
B.Tech and BA are totally different from each other. Every UPSC aspirant works with a backup plan. If you see Srushti Deshmukh, Kanishak Kataria and many other toppers, they all are from Engineering background and prepared for the UPSC Alongside. If you wholly want to focus only on IAS, think both on the cons and pros of your choice. Furthermore, it is not always essential for UPSC CSE coaching. The syllabus is designed as such that candidates can himself/herself prepare for the exam within a maximum span of two years. So, taking coaching for three years and along side regular college, will no longer give you time for self study. How much good coaching center you join, if you do not study yourself or revise, you cannot score good enough in the exam. You can even opt for weekend coaching or use online resources to prepare for the exam. You can opt for the degree which fascinates you more and you can choose same in the optional as well which will really help in boosting your score. Don't take stress and be calm.
