HSEE - Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination is for admission to the five year integrated Master of Arts - M.A. Programme at IIT- Madras, an Institute of National importance. This Institute offers great quality education in subjects like - Humanities, Engineering, Sciences, Management also Technology at both UG as well as PG level.
The courses offered are as under:
Two courses are available by HSEE admission-
-Integrated Master of Arts in Developmental Studies
-Integrated Master of Arts in English
The required eligiblity for the exam is as under:
Age Limit:
UR/Gen- 25 years
SC/ST - 30 years
Nationality- Indian, Foreign nationalists
Required Educational Qualifications:
10+2 passed from a recognised board
HSC Vocational Examination
Exam will be held only once in a year.
Test Centres can be : Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
Eligibility- This course has 46 seats in total, and that too 23 seats in total.
Category wise % marks- For Gen/UR and OBC 60% marks are required. Whereas for ST/SC/PD - 55% marks.
Exam Pattern- This exam is divided into 2 parts.
(i) Part 1 will be online mode - in which the questions are based on Quantitative Ability, General Knowledge, English, General Knowledge.
(ii.) Part 2 will be the written part- which includes mainly English Essay writing.
Syllabus - to be known first and then only can be explained.
-ENglish (25%) - Grammar, Vocabulary + writing skills
-Analitycal and Quantitative Ability (25%)
-General Studies (50%)
To register for this entrance exam, an application has to be submitted online for which the students can visit on the official website to log in - http://hsee.iitm.ac.in.
The applicants need to follow the required guidelines for application form filling. Make sure to provide correct information as given in your original documents.
Preparation level- To pass and qualify this entrance exam, one should follow and study in a standard way. One needs to know the syllabus part very well and then list out the important chapters/topics and plan your schedule accordingly. It would be easy to study.
Know the subjects well and try to understand it's core part. There is English subject included and so the writing skills in it for which one needs to perk up the vocabulary thus improving the writing level. Writing part is what makes difference and so it should be focused.
However, practical knowledge is highly required. General awareness, latest events, current ideas and such related should be kept in mind. Latest General Knowledge books/magazines should be referred for general and analytical studies.
Try to practice previous years question papers. Many times repeated questions are asked.
Practicing more and more can only get you good score. As it'll give the question-level-pattern idea + the logic where and when to be applied.
Practicing maximum number of questions will give you confidence to solve the question in less time + correctly. Also, this will improve one's writing speed which is highly important to be maintained during entrance exams especially.
