In the UPSC Mains Examination , you are allowed to write different papers in different languages as per the following rules:

1. Essay and General Studies Papers (GS1 to GS4):

   • You can write these papers in English , Hindi, or any language listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
     
     
   • Since you've mentioned English, you can write these papers in English.
     
     

2. Optional Paper (Kannada Literature):

   • As Kannada is your chosen optional subject, you must write both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of Kannada Literature in the Kannada language .

   • UPSC allows candidates to use one language for some papers and another for others, as long as the rules are adhered to.
