For courses like biomedical engineering the laptop is required. Usually you have to use some programs or software in the course studies. For this your laptop or computer should have good memory, processor so that the programs run smoothly.

Usually your college or teachers will guide you the requirement which your laptop need. So after admission you can consult your teacher for information regarding the laptop requirement.

Kindly share your budget in which you want the Laptop.
It will be easier to find the perfect laptop According to your requirements.
However, for you work you mentioned in your query I think you must buy a laptop with minimum I5 processor, 8GB of Ram, 1TB of Harddisk and you can also add on some other things like Ryzen processor, graphic card, etc.

Comming to aspect of taking which laptop I would prefer you to take dell or hp with a configuration above i5 and of 8 g +ram.And storage is you wish if you are a kind of gay always carry a laptop rather than pendrive then you may take a high storage laptop
