Hello Aspirant!

IF you have ever wondered why some candidates with good academic records don’t make it to the select list of civil services exams and others with almost an average academic record get into the select list, then read on.
After conducting some interactive counseling sessions of KAS aspirants and after my write-up in Greater Kashmir (4th Feb) for the aspirants with some tips for choosing their optional subjects, preparing for General Studies paper and scoring more, I have been receiving enquiries in encouraging numbers on my cell phone and e-mail. While I feel privileged to guide any aspirant with my little understanding of this examination, I also got worried for many reasons. It made me miserable to learn that a substantial number of aspirants are totally unconcerned and undecided about second optional. A large chunk has not realized, even till now, that Prelims is only meant for screening and real test lies in Mains and Interview. Some of the aspirants even revealed with misplaced confidence that they have chosen Political Science and Public Administration as two optional subjects when such combination is not permissible in this examination.
All this makes me to believe that all our aspirants have not been able to lay a good beginning. Perhaps they have not been able to understand fundamental requirements of this examination, and when we don’t have exact roadmap and actual appreciation of the track, making it to destination gets tougher. This examination is popularly called as Combined  Competitive  Examination and has three stages. These are:
(1)  Preliminary Examination.
(2)  Main Examination.
(3)  Interview.

Dear aspirant, the key to success in this examination does not lie merely in how many hours of hard work you put in. Surprisingly, the key to success lies in how many hours of planned; focused and concentrated hours of hard work go into your preparation. Successful candidates have always made steadied progress in reaching their goal. They have not done it with the swing of any magic wand. If you have decided to fight the competition with right arsenal, the victory can’t shy away from you. God sides with those people who have the right intentions and approach. If you believe success is possible, you have already achieved 90% of it!

Hope this helps you :)
