hi..I am about to appear for the Mbbs counselling for this year. May I know if I need to submit the bond during the admission process to medical college and is there any specific format for the bond?

The provision of signing bonds by students pursuing medicine/mbbs is different in different states of our country. Most of the states of India do not have such provision. However, there are certain states which practice this norm of signing bonds from students like West Bengal, Karnataka, etc.

It all depends upon which state's Medical College you are about to join and what norms are there in that medical fraternity.

The provision of bond signing is done to prevent the students from abruptly leaving the graduation course of medicine mid-way and also to compel students to complete a 6 month internship for the students as a compulsory program through college. Failing to complete the course or the internship, the candidate is charged a hefty sum of money (different for different Institutes). If the candidates fail to give the sum of money, the Institute withhold with themselves the +2 or 12th board mark certificate (or any other relevant documents as mentioned in the bond) with them. This norm is there in VIT as well as in AFMC where students are charged a sum of 28 lakhs if the candidates fail to serve a certain number of years for the army.
