Dear Chitra, to be an English professor, you will have to pursue your courses according to the norms of UGC. For starters you need to have a Masters degree in English. For being eligible for a Masters degree in English, you should have studied English as one of the subjects during your Bachelors. The minimum aggregte you need to score is 55%. Then you will have to appear and qualify in UGC NET which is the Entrance Examination. This is a National Eligibility Test for selecting candidates to apply for the post of Assistant Professors.
