Dear Akanksha, for becoming a Data Scientist you need to have skills in Maths, Statistics , Machine learning tools and techniques, Software engineering, Data mining, Data cleaning and munging, Data visualization , Unstructured data techniques, R and/or SAS languages, SQL databases and database querying language and Python (most common), C/C++ Java, Perl. I would say starting early will help you gain more practical knowledge as you add experience to your professional age. Data Science is being used by all the big companies like Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Uber and all the small companies sitting on a large amount of data have also actively started investing into analyzing this data to drive insightful business decisions. So the earlier you start the easier it gets for you.
