Hiiii.i got 82.33 marks in gate ee 2019 and my gate score was 803 and my gate rank was 524.can I get any psu call for interview??

I'm sorry, I missed the PSU part of the question.

In my last answer, I made it clear that you have an overall good score in GATE, enough to get admissions in IITs itself.

Each year the number of PSUs recruitments through GATE are increasing and to be frank, even admission into IITs and other premier colleges would seem like a comparatively easy task compared to getting recruited by any of the top PSUs.

The one, important eligibility criteria that are necessary to apply for the PSU recruitment through GATE 2019 is having a valid GATE score, but just because one is eligible, it definitely isn't likely that he or she will easily get placed.

Let's take a look at three of the best PSUs:

• NTPC ( National Thermal Power Corporation)
  

To get an interview call:

. General: below 120

. OBC: below 400

. SC/ST: below 1000

Final selection:

• Based on group discussion and personal interview.

• ONGC ( Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited)

Selection evaluation:

• 60% of GATE score
• 15% to Interview

• Rest 25 marks are distributed as per your qualification:

20/25 for B.Tech
20/25 for M.Tech
25/25 for PhD

General: Below 100

OBC: Below 300

SC: Below 1000

ST: Below 1800

Final selection:

• Based on group discussion and personal interview.

• 85% of GATE Score

But GATE scores are not the only factor considered for PSU Recruitment. Generally, GATE scores are used for shortlisting but in some instances, they are used for direct recruitment. In such recruitments, one must breech a rank in top 150 to stand a chance in the selection. For instance, BSNL didn’t conduct any interview for recruitment for its BSNL JTO Recruitment while NTPC went further to conduct another test for further shortlisting. However, generally, a personal interview and in some cases a group discussion are the prominent screening tools used for the PSU recruitment through GATE.

Basically, to get into any damn PSU, generally, you need to be in top 500. But for the Navaratna and Maharatna like IOCL, ONGC, BHEL, etc, you'd only get through the PI if and only if you have at least 200 AIR.

If you don't belong to the general category (not even OBC, but SC or ST), then rejoice, you don't have to worry. Just make sure you don't leave a stone unturned in PI. If you do not make most of those 5 minutes interview, regardless of your rank you'll be rejected.

However, in case you are OC, then that was a close call.

GATE, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national level postgraduate entrance exam conducted by the seven IITs- Delhi, Madras, Bombay, Kanpur, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Guwahati) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, to offer admission to various M.Tech programmes offered by IITs, NITs, Private, Public and International Universities.

This year, 2019, GATE was conducted by IIT Madras in computer-based mode on Feb 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2019. The result which was scheduled to be announced on March 16 got preponed unexpectedly and was announced a day earlier, that is today, March 15, by IIT-Madras.

In 2018, the minimum qualifying marks for Electrical Engineering is:

• General: 29.1
• OBC: 26.1
• SC/ST/PWD: 19.4

The number of candidates who had qualified the exam had been 1,29,149 (16%) out of total 9,34,461 registered candidates; this percentage of 16% includes general, OBC, SC, ST, or people with disabilities.

Now, let's take a look at GATE 2019's minimum qualifying marks:

• General: 39.6
• OBC: 35.6
• SC/ST/PWD: 26.4

Yes, this year round, the number of qualified candidates is high, which also means the cutoff for the colleges will skyrocket; a sad news for a lot.

Still, regardless to say, you've come far from a margin pass. Congratulations on securing a good rank. You have cleared the exam with flying colors, and despite all the odd possibility of high cutoffs, you'd still have colorful options at hand to choose from.

According to official IIT websites, the various IITs had following cutoffs in GATE 2018/2017 for EE branch:

Alongside, the candidate must also have a minimum of 70% in their previous degree, and cgpa 7.0 for all but SC/ST/PWD who had 1.0% relaxation, i.e 6.0. This is applied to all colleges.

• IIT Gandhinagar

General: 640

Not sure, but around 900-1000 for general, 700-900 for OBC, and anywhere from 500-700 for SC/ST/PWD.

Because of the high probability that cutoffs will increase this year, you would have reasonably good chances at only the following colleges:

• IISc, Bangalore
• IIT Jodhpur
• IIT Roorkee

But don't give up; maybe you'd clear the cutoff for IITD, IITB, and the rest. Maybe.

• For admission into IITs, apply through: COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal)
• For admission into NITs/IIITs/CFTIs, apply through: CCMT (Centalized Counseling for M.Tech)

Now it is up to you to decide where you want to apply for admission and get called.
