Hello,

As per your date of birth you'll attain 21 years on 23/04/2024, hence you will be eligible for UPSC 2024,

The eligibility criteria for UPSC states that you need to attain 21 years as on 1st August of the appearing year, nd need to have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized University, you can also apply in the final year of graduation on provisonal basis, that is you'll be required to submit the proof of the qualifying examination within the stiputated time frame,

Now, coming to your question about medium in UPSC, it entirely depends on your comfort level, for example if you find English comfortable enough, you can choose to go ahead with this medium, and have marathi as optional subject in case you're interested, so if you find you can answer Mains in English and choose Marathi as an optional, in case you wish to opt for Marathi, you will have to look out about availability of study materials, your comfort level is definitely important regarding this, having English as a medium is best choice as it's common thing, you can get study materials, most people opt for this medium, you can get to know about toppers answer sheets which help regarding answer writing, so anayze everything and then take a decision accordingly.

To help you further,

UPSC Examination pattern is given below:-

Your UPSC civil services examination consists of three stages

*****prelims exam :- it is objective paper and is of qualifying nature , so you just  need to at least qualify it to be eligible for mains examination, the score /marks obtained by you in your prelims examination is not added up or used in your final merit. Your prelims exam consist of 2 papers: -

-------) general studies  1

-------) general studies II ( csat )

You get 2 hours for each paper

*****Mains exam. :- it is descriptive /written examination . There are a total of 9 papers  which are listed below:-

-------) compulsory indian language.

-------) english

-------) essay

-------) general studies I

-------) general studies II

-------) general studies III

-------) general studies IV

-------) optional I

-------) optional II

The compulsory indian language and english are qualifying in nature . You just need to qualify them. The marks obtained by you in these two papers will not be counted towards merit list.

*****Interview :- After qualifying mains, you have to go through interview round, and it is more of test of your personality rather than knowledge.

Coming to the language in which you should give UPSC then,

The UPSC Prelims and Mains examination question paper are set in both English and Hindi except the language papers -A and B in mains examination while prelims examination is objective, Mains examination is subjective and you have the option to write your  answers in English  or in any one of the Eighth Schedule languages .

So, beside English , you have the option to write answers in the language included

in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution which consists of  22 languages  listed below:-

-) Assamese

-) Bengali

-) Gujarati

-) Hindi

-) Kannada

-) Kashmiri

-) Konkani

-) Malayalam

-) Manipuri

-) Marathi

-) Nepali

-) Odia

-) Punjabi

-) Sanskrit

-) Sindhi

-) Tamil

-) Telugu

-) Urdu

-) Bodo

-) Dogri

-) Maithili

-) Santhali

But yes, paper B is English itself in UPSC Mains examination and for that you will have to clear it ,you cannot choose any other language for paper B .

So, if you are comfortable in English then choose English language for UPSC otherwise  you can choose any of the languages mentioned above which are included in 8th schedule.
