There are a lot of advantages doing B.tech in Biotechnology but as well there are also disadvantages of doing it in India. The scope is very less in India. As it is improving slowly but still it's far away from biotech scope in abroad.
The advantages are it is an exciting field, a lot of startups coming up, opportunities to do some great stuff in public health sector and green technology and low cost diagnostic and medical innovations, the scope of international collaborations are improving. The international market is huge in this area. Demanding jobs are there in abroad.
Disadvantages are lack of funding for basic research, very less institutional collaborations among domestic and university labs and departments, the difficulty of getting absorbed into industries. Jobs are very very less in India compare to other braches.
