Yes. Since you are probably in CBSE, taking up computer science wont harm you. Even the mathematics taught in class 11 doesn't have much application in commerce. So taking up computer science in 11th shouldn't be an issue. However, when you will come to college, admissions in Computer Science engineering courses are through engineering exams, there it might be a problem for you.

After doing commerce you can't be a software engineer dear. Because for software engineer in India know mainly the CSE students. That means computer science engineering. If you do BTech in CSE then you can job a reputed company and after doing job some years with your knowledge you become a software engineer. For this reason you can join Science stream in 11th.

Otherwise if you interested in computer then you can do computer course except school subject. And join any company for another job than software engineer but as another post.
