It would have been appreciable if you had also mentioned about the counselling you are talking about. Thus I will be taking a general case, in most of the counselling processes, students are provided the option of float, which is basically for you to secure a seat and still participate in counselling for a better seat. Generally, seat allotment fees are adjusted if your college is changed. The seat you have already got is generally safe and you won't be losing it. Though in some of the counselling, spot round is also organised where the seats earlier secured cannot be retained.
I would have been much more helpful if you had told the name of counselling process. Feel free to comment down.
