Hi Sagnik
Well,i hope you had learnt probability in mathematics.Even if you do not take up mathematics as a subject in class 12 or even in class 10 then just from the name you can make out that it speaks of something which is probable or 'how likely is something to happen'.
Rank predictor works on the same principle of probability i.e how likely you are getting the rank predicted on the basis of your scores. It takes into account the cut off trends from the previous years, matches it against your score, manipulates and calculates a result or rank on the basis of information stored in it and displays it to you.It is highly possible that you may get a rank of 35000 by getting 96 percentile in JEE MAINS whereas rank predictor may show a rank of 25000.On the contrary it is also possible that your rank may match against the rank predicted by the rank predictors.
So it is unlikely and illogical to say that rank predictors on any websites are not accurate. They calculate your rank based on the scenario from previous years whereas you will get a rank based on the cut off trend and several other factors (such as total number of students, difficulty level of question paper) based on your current year.So I suggest to avoid using rank predictors(although you can use it if you want to judge your position and rank based on the previous years) and put all your efforts in hard work as it will pay off the best result.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Hello Sagnik, They aren't exactly accurate. Actually, predictors will never be something on which you can rely on or believe. because predictors use algorithms based on last years cutoff and although they do consider current years conditions too there is still something which they can't control like they don't know what was the exact difficulty of question papers. but again, they at least give you a picture and at least you won't be blind. So it's better to have something than nothing.
