You need to appear for National level exam like IIT JEE or your state level Engineering Entrance Exam, According your score you can go for B.tech college with CSE or IT branch to become a Software Engineer. To get admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs or GFTIs you should have minimum 75% in class 12th as a general Category & 65% as a reserved category. To apply for Computer Science Engineering in top Government Colleges like IITs , NITs and IIITs , you need to appear for JEE Mains and then qualify it to be eligible for giving JEE Advanced that allows you to get admission in IITs . To be eligible for JEE Mains , you need to take PCM in your Class 12 .

To get admission in Computer Science and Engineering you first need to clear your class 12th in Physics, Chemistry and Maths as core subjects. 75% Aggregate marks in all 5 subjects of class 12th is mandatory for JEE Mains while most of the private colleges accepts 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

After passing class 12th with these subjects you need to appear and secure good rank in national/state/private entrance exams like JEE Mains, BITSAT, VITEEE, UPSEEE, WBJEEE, MUOET, COMEDK, MAHCET, UPES-EAT etc.
