ADC stands for Australian Dental Examination. ADC is the body authorised by Govt. of Australia to perform the accreditation functions for the Dental Board of Australia (DBA). One of the accreditation functions is the assessment of the knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes of overseas trained dental practitioners who are seeking registration with the DBA to practise in Australia. For any dentist who has received his degree in a country outside Australia , ADC is the only way to get the much needed approval to work in Australia as a dentist.
The ADC examination procedure is available to:General Dentists who:
hold a university dental degree or diploma obtained after at least four years full-time academic study at an acknowledged university or an appropriate qualification*.
have held full and unrestricted registration/licensure in his/her home country or country of training, and there has been no withdrawal of registration.
Dental Hygienist and/or Dental Therapist who:*.hold a dental hygiene and/or dental therapy qualification which was obtained after at least two years’ full-time academic study; and,*. have held full and unrestricted registration/licensure in his/her home country or country of training, and there has been no withdrawalof registration.
United Kingdom
To settle in UK as a dentist has a good scope as dentistry is among highly paid profession. The only way to practice dentistry for Indian dentist is to pass ORE, a licensing exam conducted by British Dental Council. This exam is held twice a year (i.e. in April and September) in UK. The exam is based on UK dental curriculum and has 2 parts (Part 1- Theory n Part 2- Practical).
First is by getting a tourist visa and give ORE part-1 and for Part-2, there is another visa which UKBA issue for students appearing in ORE or PLAB (for medical students).
