Hello,

According to the educational qualifications prescribed in the NDA eligibility criteria , candidates who are non-maths students can attempt the exam, however, they can only enrol in the Indian Army branch.

That being said, maths does form a major portion of the NDA exam pattern . A non math student can tackle this section though proper preparation and planning. Here are some preparation tips you can follow for maths preparation.

  • Gain a good understanding of the topics in the NDA syllabus.
  • Pick the best books for NDA preparation to study from. A few good books for maths include:
    • NCERT Mathematics Textbook of Class 11 and Class 12
    • Mathematics for NDA and NA by S. Chand and R.S. Agarwal
    • Mathematics by R.S. Agarwal
    • NDA Entrance Exam by E.S. Ramaswamy
  • Practice questions from previous years' NDA question papers to get a better understanding of the kind of questions that will appear in the paper.

While it is a bit challenging, with the right preparation, a non math student can clear the NDA exam.

Hi,

If you don't have Maths in your 12 you can gave NDA exam and you needs to apply for the Army branch

But you have to clear the Maths paper in NDA exam. As per NDA eligibility criteria, the educational qualification is clearly mentioned as “12th Class of 10+2 System of Education/Equivalent for Army and with Physics and Maths for AF & Navy”. This makes one thing very clear. Aspirants without Maths and Physics can also apply and join the NDA, but they are restricted for joining only the Army wing, eligibility of which is, only 12th pass. The eligibility for Air Force and Navy wing, however, is Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level among others.

So, it is obvious that without MPC subjects a candidate is not eligible for Navy/Air Force wing.

So, Arts/Commerce students can only join the Army wing and not Air Force or Navy, you ask? Sadly, yes. But this should not be a problem for writing the exam. For this purpose, you just need to study Maths from the exam point of view. Because even if you wish to join the Army Wing of NDA as a non-math student you have to clear the 300-marks maths written exam. NO SECOND OPTIONS.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
