Hey Subhash kumar,
If you want to apply admission in IIT kanpur,then you need to appear for JEE MAINS exam you need to be qualified in that then later,you need to appear in IIT-JEE exam,and based on your rank your branch and your seat in the college will be alloted,But it is not sure that just by attending the exam you will get admission in the college,You need to get a sufficient rank according to the college cutoff rank!

If you want to get admission into the engineering discipline then you have to appear for the jee mains exams if you qualify the criteria then you will be appear for the jee advance by which according to your ranking you wil be getting a list of the colleges by which you will get admission.

If You want to get admission in IIT KANPUR then First you have to prepare for jee mains & advance.
First Test - Jee main in which you have to pass cutoff marks for appeard in Jee Advance.
In Jee Advance you will have to do your best because if you want IIT KANPUR then you must be rank between 1-2000. Ranking depending upon branchwise.
If You want to get admission in IIT KANPUR then First you have to prepare for jee mains & advance.

For getting admission in iit kanpur you first have appear for jee main then you have to clear the cutoff of main then you have to appear for advanced and if you crack the cutoff for iits then you will get chance in iit kanpur.
