To become an agent of CBI, you must appear the examinations performed by UPSC. This is called the combined graduate examination. This examination is carried out once a year for the post of police sub-inspectors at the Central Investigation Bureau. The eligibility criterion is graduation with 50 percent of marks. In addition, the candidate’s age must not exceed 25 years. Application forms and other details are published in the employment bulletin in October.
CBI recruits candidates through direct recruitment, deployment, promotion of seniority, or limited review of departmental competence. All direct recruitment of Group C posts to sub-inspectors, officers and subordinates of the lower division is done through the Personnel Selection Committee (SSC).
