Hope you are doing well!

If you want to become a meteorologist then you should have science stream in your +2 level.

After that you can either pursue BTech in Atmospheric Sciences,BSc in Meteorology,diploma in meteorology course etc as your undergraduate degree.Then for the post graduation you can take up Mtech or Msc in meteorology.Having a postgraduation degree will help you to find better job opportunities and research based positions.

You can apply for the government jobs through SSC/UPSC/Government exams.

Average Starting Salary is INR 3,60,000

You can work in Meteorological Research Centre, Meteorology Department in States and Centre, Agricultural Planning Divisions, Air Crafts and Missile Manufacturers, Weather Consulting Organisations, Consulting Organisations, Navy, Air Force etc.

Students interested in becoming a meteorologist should take science in class 12.
After, they can pursue BTech in Atmospheric Sciences or BSc in Meteorology, offered by IITs in India, the admissions to which is based on JEE Main scores.
Apart from BTech or BSc, students can also pursue a diploma in meteorology course after class 12th and can take admission in the 2nd year of BTech in meteorology via lateral entry.
MTech or MSc in Meteorology can also be taken up after BTech or BSc, to find better job opportunities and research based positions.
Scope:
There are many government job vacancies for the post of meteorologists, for which a student can appear for SSC/UPSC/Government exams.
The average starting salary is around INR 3,60,000.

Hello aspirant,

Hope you are doing great. So, in order to become a meteorologist in India, you need to complete your degree in meteorology or in atmospheric science. Further,  after completion of your 12th grade, you need to complete your graduation in Btech or BSc in atmospheric science. And if students wish to pursue MTech or MSc in atmospheric science, they can do it and it will help for the purpose of teaching.

Btech in Atmospheric Science:

So, the atmospheric science is a four year under graduate course. To be eligible to this, you need to complete your 10+2 course level with PCM, from a recognized board. Cochin University of Kerala and IIT Delhi are the only two colleges which are providing this course. Further, the fee to this course will range from INR 1 lakh to INR 4 lakh. So, after completion of this course, you can become a meteorologist, atmospheric scientist, environmentalist, climatologist, etc..

BSc in Meteorology:

BSc is in meteorology course is also an undergraduate meteorology and it is of 3 year course. In order to do this course, 50% marks in 10+2 need to be scored. So, ABV Government Degree College, Warangal offers this course, and there also several entrance tests to different universities.
