How can I get admission in mechanical engineering as I completed my 12th with commerce??
Hiii,
you have completed your 12th with Commerce, you cannot take direct admission into Mechanical Engineering because that course needs a background in Science, especially subjects like Physics and Maths. These subjects are very important for understanding how machines work, which is the core of Mechanical Engineering.
One option is to go back and study 11th and 12th again, this time with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. After that, you can give entrance exams like JEE or other state-level exams and apply for a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. This may feel like starting over, but if you are truly passionate about becoming a mechanical engineer, it’s worth considering.
Another option is to join a diploma course. In some places, there are polytechnic colleges that might allow commerce students to do a diploma in engineering. But in most cases, they expect you to have studied science too. So you’ll have to check if any diploma colleges in your state allow commerce students. After finishing the diploma, you might be able to get into the second year of a B.Tech course through lateral entry.
If you don’t want to change your stream but still want to work in the mechanical field, you can go for a degree like BBA or B.Com and later do an MBA in Operations, Supply Chain, or something related to manufacturing. This way, you can work in companies that deal with machines, but in roles like management, planning, or logistics instead of technical engineering roles.
