how can i prepare for aiims and jipmer i have only 20 days left for it
Hello Amita,
The best way to be ready from now is to write mock exams as much as you can and then analyse your weaknesses as per the results. Evaluate the answer with full honesty and revise the concept which you think is your weaker part. This will give you confidence for the exam as you will be prepared for what's coming.
All the best.
How to prepare for AIIMS 2019?
· First of all, ditch any thought that comes in your mind about you not being capable enough of cracking AIIMS.
· You guys have already prepared well enough for NEET 2019, you just need to get acquainted with the pattern of AIIMS UG entrance exam and focus on it.
· The questions asked in AIIMS are 60 each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 20 from GK. Since the proportion of questions from Biology is lesser than that of NEET, many students find it trickier, especially if like me, their forte is Biology. GK can be a tough nut to crack too, especially if ignored fully.
· Assertion-reason questions are also quite tricky and need to be worked upon and practiced well to be attempted correctly in the exam.
· Also, since AIIMS has 1/3rd negative marking, you cannot take the liberty to guess answers which is often done in NEET(1/4th negative marking) or other entrances with no negative marking (Eg: JIPMER).
1. Physics- This is probably the toughest nut to crack in AIIMS entrance examination. The level of Physics in AIIMS is quite high compared to that asked in NEET. Practice conceptual objective questions more to prepare for this section. Also you need to focus on Physics NCERT too for AIIMS, especially for the assertion-reason(AR) questions. Physics NCERT has very important lines, specially many based on theory which are not even touched in coaching modules/notes, etc. These are frequently asked in AIIMS. Since reading the whole Physics NCERT in a month is very difficult, go for reading the points to ponder and the summary at the end of the chapter. Most questions are picked straight up from there. Also, Communication chapter is not included in NEET but is there in AIIMS and a question from that chapter comes frequently, so do it well.
2. Chemistry- The level of objective questions is similar to that asked in NEET, you will not face much problem attempting AIIMS Chemistry questions if you've prepared well for NEET. Even ARs can be managed if practiced well. Devote time to solve a lot of ARs and master them. ARs can be tricky but can help you immensely if you practice them enough.
3. Biology- AIIMS biology is hands down the easiest section, it is even easier than Biology asked in NEET and most of the questions asked in 2016 (90%) were directly out of NCERT, no hidden lines just plain text. Again, ARs can be a but tricky but you need to practice them well. Go for extensive practicing of ARs in Biology as it will cover all the theory and objective related knowledge too. This way you'll feel comfortable with AIIMS Biology. Earthworm and frog are not in NEET syllabus but they're included in AIIMS syllabus, so do study those topics carefully.
4. GK- Most students tend to ignore it but remember it carries 20 marks(10%). It can get you in the merit list if done well as much as it can get you out of the merit list if totally ignored. To be honest, AIIMS GK is not the GK you might expect to be known as a favt generally and so its better to work on it. I would suggest practicing all GK sections of PYQPs to get ther idea of what type of GK questions are asked. Although I generally do not suggest books or mention them in my answers, but for AIIMS, especially for GK I would recommend buying the GK and PYQP book from AIM4AIIMS group. Its not very costly and you can find their website/page on google/Facebook.
