Hey, what you can do is write down all the age name chronologically along with the year, from Chaucerian age to postmodern age and then start collecting all the historical and political background. what happened during each age, what changed, what was prevalent, what took place and the belief system, if it was a religious era or an era of modernism and lost of religion. Best make it like a story and connect one age with another, then find out the prominent writers and their works that were famous and why they were famous. you can also find out some writers who were not famous at their own time but are now being recognized because of their ideology and writing style. That way you will have a structure in your studies.
I hope this helped.
best wishes
