Hello student
At first read all the scoring chapters like thermodynamic, chemical kinetics, solid state, quantum; CFSE calculation, magneto chemistry and different type of spectra(LMCT, MMCT, MLCT),( avoid group chemistry because you have to memorize lot of things from there )Acids and bases (concepts like Lewis acidity and basicity , back bonding and how these things influence the acidic or basic nature of a given molecule), Organometallic chemistry( boron chemistry, 18 e rule, reactions like migration , insertion etc. , Ziegler natta catalyst, Mon Santo acidic acid synthesis procedure, structure of zeise's salt structure and synthetic procedure. These are just some basic chapters from where a huge no of questions come.
Just do your B. Sc + M.Sc (to some extent) syllabus completely. Put more emphasis on:
Inorganic Chemistry: Main group, transition metal & coordination chem(Vimp), Organometallic Chemistry(more M.Sc content), Bioinorg Chem (mostly Oxygen transport related), Chemical Bonding(includes theories, shapes, structures and periodic properties).
Organic Chemistry: All functional Groups (mainly Carbonyl, Amines, Carboxyl and Derivatives) and Related named reactions (V.Imp). Some extent IR, NMR and UV spectro. Complete Reaction Mechanisms (SN, E, ArSN and ArE).
Physical Chemistry: Thermodynamics (imp. topics are maxwell, entropy, enthalpy, relation to equilibrium), Kinetics(V.Imp), Solid State, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Molecular Spectro and some minor things you want to touch.
Also, read a bit of M.Sc content too for an edge in competition. Practice a lot of questions as it pays off well.
