Dear Guru Saini,

Greetings.

Civil Exams are tough one to crack but proper planning and preparation will give the positive results. Follow these steps to crack Civil Exams:

  1. Start with newspapers read the Hindu. It will be hard at first if you're a fresher to Hindu. For how to read productively watch some videos about reading newspaper for UPSC.
  2. Read previous year question to get a clarity about the topics and changing pattern of the exam.
  3. Simultaneously start reading basic NCERTs . 6–10
  4. Make a time table and follow it religiously.
  5. Follow consistency whatever you study.
  6. Select an optional.
  7. If you are planning to join classes then it's fine. Other I would recommend, self study for GS is fine you can study but you should go classes for optional.

After mastering the basics you can go for standard books, essay writing and answer writing practice.

All the best.
