How do each of the following factors affect the productivity in the process of photosynthesis ? (i) Temperature (ii) Water (iii) Carbon dioxide.
1) The rate ofphotosynthesis increases with increase intemperature.
2) The rate ofphotosynthesisdecreases if the availability of water is less.photosynthesismay stop also if water is not available at all.
3) The rate ofphotosynthesis increases with increase in carbon dioxide.
Keep asking!
Regards!
Hello!
Temperature - The dark reactions of photosynthesis are enzymatic so the temperature is also controlled by this factor. Light reactions are temperature sensitive and they are not affected much. The C4 plants respond to higher temperature and show high rate of photosynthesis whereas C3 plants have much lower temperature. Tropical plants have a higher temperature optimum than the plant adopted to temperate climates.
Water - water stress causes stomata to close hence reducing CO2 availability. Water stress also makes leaves wilt, thus reducing the surface area of the leaves and their metabolic activity as well.
CO2 - The rate of photosynthesis increase with increase in carbon dioxide.
hope the answer was of some help. ALL THE BEST.
