1. Prepare as per the BITSAT syllabus provided in the brochure. The brochure is easily available online.

2. All the topics covered in BITSAT are not covered in IIT-JEE. Revise all the topics that you are comfortable with so that you can make the most of these easy scoring sections. All formulas should be memorized by heart. Remember, your speed is of immense importance in the BITSAT.

3. Once revision of old topics is complete, spend an hour per day on new topics.

4. The subjects included in the BITSAT include mathematics, physics, chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Have all the mathematical formulas on your tips. Write down vital chemical reactions, particularly from Organic Chemistry so that you have them handy when required.

5. A lot of practice is required in mathematics. The subject is more mechanical than logic based; therefore you need to use brain power. Valuable time is spent in solving these problems, so you need to be fast while solving them.

6. It is important for you to attempt 100 questions correctly. Negative marking also exists in BITSAT. Therefore, to remain on the safer side, you should attempt a minimum of 120 questions. Answering 120 questions correctly means a score of 360 which is suitable for admission into BITS Pilani.

7. To be able to attempt 120 questions in all, divide the examination in such a manner that you attempt 20 questions in English and logical reasoning, 35 each in Chemistry and Mathematics, and 30 in Physics.

Shorter but Trickier questions:
While gearing up for BITSAT 2017, don't waste time solving lengthier questions, but root for questions which are more concept based. You must have all formulas and equations (algebraic and chemical alike) on your fingertips. Know that almost seventy percent of the question paper is formula based.

Strenuous time management:
The most important out of all the BITSAT tips and tricks is and most efficient is time management.

Dividing time for separate questions:
Of the three hours of the examination, spend no more than half an hour on Chemistry so that you can devote more time to other sections. Since mathematics is time consuming, it may eat up as much as sixty to eighty minutes; the rest being saved for Physics, English and Logical Reasoning.

Bonus Questions
BITSAT is the only examination amongst all its contemporaries which provides its candidates with bonus questions. Along with the sum total of 150 questions, it allows students to attempt an extra 12 questions but this comes with a catch. Once you opt for bonus questions, you have to submit your answers to the original 150 questions and you can't revert back to review those answers. As risky as this may sound, many students attempt the bonus questions to score the extra edge. It is wiser to check the 150 answers before opting for the bonus questions as once you land on the bonus questions, there is no going back to those 150 questions you answered.
