ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Bio-medical Engineering was started in the year 2008 within Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT). The program is well structured to make the students understand the recent advancements in the field of biomedical engineering. Understanding the recent advancement will enrich their skillsets and make them excel in their career as researchers and engineers. Bio-medical engineering program of Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) is designed to make students understand the advancements such as Robotics based medical technologies, Sensors based diagnostics, Bio-MEMS, Medical coding and Medical equipment’s. This program will make the students more unique in understanding the needs of the market in the field of medical diagnostics to provide an overall enhancement in the health care.

Moving beyond the boundaries, Department of Bio-medical engineering also offers various one credit courses on Medical Instrumentation, Medical Coding, Medical Image analysis and Medical robotics. These courses help the students to understand recent advancements and the market demand beyond the planned curriculum delivery. Students were also being motivated by the workshops and invited talks given by various experts from different industries, research boards and eminent professors from different parts of the world. Apart from being excelled in academics, students of bio-medical engineering have a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge practically with two hospital training programs with our Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital at Pondicherry and Salem respectively. This makes the students to understand the concepts more practically.

The department has signed MoU’s with various industries, research organizations and Universities abroad for improving the knowledge to behold a successful career. Enriched knowledge was acquired by our students based on Hospital visits, Industrial visits and Research which forms as part of our core curriculum. The research ambiance of the department motivates the faculty members to do in-house research for publishing papers in peer reviewed international journals and conferences. Each student is encouraged to develop innovative products on their own as part of Innovative Projects to compete in various National/International competitions. As part of the curricular activity, the department always organizes various national and international events such as Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Student competitions and Faculty development programmes on various topics of biomedical engineering in association with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR). Department of Bio-medical engineering is very proud to share that, the alumni’s are working in various reputed healthcare industries in India and abroad after their strong academic excellence in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
