Hello Aruna,

A BTech is a bachelor's degree, and you cannot do a Master's in that. The equivalent Master's degree is an MTech.

To give the GRE, check the subject you want to clear and be thorough with the syllabus. You can enrol in coaching institutes and take mock exams to better your scores.

Do download and submit the forms, your recommendation letters and marksheets within due time to be eligible for the exam.

dear aruna,

follow these steps:

  1. Give GRE and TOEFL. As mentioned above, this should be done by first month of your fourth year (In India this is equivalent to end of August).
  2. Shortlist universities. Now you have your GRE score, and a decent idea of where you stand based on your CGPA and projects (these are more important than GRE and TOEFL, so you might wanna make sure these summers are productive). Now start shortlisting universities based on your profile (by going to the respective websites), and depending on your budget, you can shortlist N number of universities. Make sure you have some 'safety' universities. Be done with your list by the end of September.
  3. Prepare your documents. These depend from university to university, but almost always will include an updated CV/Resume, latest Transcripts, and a Statement of Purpose (why you are applying there and why should they select you), your GRE and TOEFL scores, plus 1-2 extra ones. Make sure everything is scanned/copied and ready by the end of October/mid-November.
  4. Keep your credit card ready and start applying. This is the most important part, if you have started applying only 1-2 weeks before deadline, you should have credit card which can be used for the payment, some universities just don't accept VISA or some other company and you must have an alternative. Since we are following my suggested timeline, I think you'll have plenty of time to find solutions.

Finally, I'd say talk to your seniors in your college, or alumni who have made it to the US, and make sure they have given exam in the new format, otherwise they can't help you.

Best of Luck!
