Hi aspirant,

If you are a JEE(Main+Advanced) or NEET aspirant then you might have heard the organic chemistry is the most scoring paper and indeed it is. Therefore it is very important to learn it properly. Here I am giving you few tips to improve your organic chemistry.

  • Learn structures and nonomenclature

Organic chemistry would have been a jungle had there not been structures and nomenclature. You need to know how to draw structure and name a compound.

  • Memorize the name reactions well

You should remember the name reactions very well and should be able to recognise a reaction instantly. JEE and NEET examination are all about speed and accuracy in organic chemistry.

  • Build a foundation

Organic chemistry is like a pyramid, So the top will collapse without a strong base. You should not skip the beginning and study it properly as it is the foundation for others.

  • Work on the problems

Learning Organic Chemistry requires problem practice. You should attempt all NCERT questions, then your reference book exercises and hit the past year papers. Spend all the extra time you save from theory for organic chemistry into solving problems. Read NCERT thoroughly and ensure that not a single line is left unstudied.

  • Prepare Mind maps

While studying organic chemistry we encounter a number of reagents. Some are reducing agents(LiAlH4), some oxidize(O3), while some dehydrate.(conc. H2SO4). Know what they do, make a list, and remember them.

  • Don't forget Acid Base reactions

More than half of organic chemistry is based on acid-base reaction? You can call them Electrophile and Nucleophile if you like. Once you know how they work then organic chemistry will be easier for you.

At last I would say that it involves discipline, doing problems, focusing on learning concepts, and staying on top of the material to do better in organic chemistry and you can do that. Remember NCERT is must and you should not skip it thinking it to be easy. Rather read it thoroughly even single line and solve its excercise even if it seems easier to you.

Wish you all the best.

Hey Fatema, organic chemistry is one of the most important part and many questions come from this part. As this is the part in which you need a good and experienced teacher because in this subject you need to understand the reaction and things how they are happening and their behavior and it will need time and a good tutor.

So you should first go through the NCERT which help you to get the basics of the organic chemistry and many common reactions and learn the process how a reaction is taking place what is the reason behind the only product in reaction and behavior of catalyst we are using. Next make proper notes and write each reactions. After that move towards good books or notes of a good Institute or teacher which helps you to explore more in the subject and give you a way of thinking .

Books for organic chemistry :

1) Mordern approach to chemical calculation by R. C. Mukherjee
2) Concept of physical chemistry by p bahadur
3) Physical chemistry by P. W. Atkins
4) Concise inorganic chemistry by j d Lee

I hope this will helps to you and thank you !!!
