Starting this year, inclusion of Mathematics is compulsory for BA Economics Honours. As per Bulletin of Information.

Hey Akshat!

For calculating best of four for BA economic honours , you must include three core subjects and one language subject which must be preferably english. In case , you want to include the marks of any elective subject , there will be a deduction of 2.5% . And yes , mathematics is necessary to be one of the main subjects you have studied but it is not necessary to use it in calculating best of four but you need to satisfy the minimum criteria of marks of mathematics which may be 60.

Hope it helps!

As per best 4 written in DU bulletin which is reproduced as follows there is a littele hope that maths is not included in best 4.Additional Eligibility Criteria:- Applicants must have passed in Mathematics in the qualifying examination.Combination of Subjects for Best Four Calculation:- ● An aggregate of 60% marks or more in one Language from List A1, Mathematics and combination of best two other elective subjects from Lists A and B. ● Out of the best two chosen above, non-inclusion of Economics will lead to a deduction of 1% on the aggregate of the Best Four. ● Inclusion of any subject other than those given in Lists A and B in the ―best two‖ will lead to a deduction of 2.5% per subject on the aggregate of the Best Four.  There is no mention of 4th subject they only talk of two subects and have coverd english and maths..but then why an aditional line that candidate should have passed in mathematics..This is not what we all expected for economics honors

Hi Akshat

In case you need to calculate percentage for best of four subjects then you first select the four subjects in which you got the highest marks, then you need to add them up and at last you need to divide it by 4 to calculate the required percentage.

Understanding the DU Admission 2019 based on "Best of Four" marks

There must be one language included in the best of four (core/ elective/ functional)
