However, when forests are cleared to make way for agriculture and other activities, they emit large quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere leading to global warming thus it helps in maintaining the overall global climate condition.

For example, Amazon is a forest tract with many species dependent upon it. These species feed on forest produce and some species for prey. It is a food web with chain reaction which make ecological balance at all times. Forests are everything and we cannot live without them is an apt statement barring any political or social significance behind it.
