No extra will be charged if you interchange your EWS category to General because application fee for both the categories is same i.e. Rs. 650/-. Extra fee is charged in the cases where you have registered yourself as SC/ST/PwD candidate and paid application fee of Rs. 325/- then if you change your category to either General/EWS/OBC-NCL then you have to pay Rs. 325/- extra.
On December 16th 2020 the application process for JEE-Main 2021 Feberuary attempt has been started by National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the conducting authority for JEE-Main 2021. You can apply for JEE-Main from the official portal of JEE-Main which is given below :-

Note that this application process will continues till January 16th 2021 and last date for payment of application fee is January 17th 2021 after which neither application nor application fee will be accepted and then after the correction window will be opened for the applicants from January 19th to January 21st 2021. Admit cards will be available for download from second week of February 2021 and the examination will be conducted from February 23rd to February 26th 2021 in two shifts per day, for February attempt.
A candidate will also have option to apply for one Session or more than one Session (February/ March /April /May 2021) together and pay exam fee accordingly. In other words, if a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he / she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the March/ April / May Sessions.
Some insights of JEE-Main 2021 :-
- To qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteriabut yes if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your class 12th if you belongs to General/Unreserved category and 65% if you belongs to any of the reserved category.
- Also from this year according to New Education Policy the JEE-Main examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam.
- In JEE-Main 2021 there will be total 90 question out of which you have to attempt only 75 (25 from each section) and there will be two sections for each subject, Section-A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)(20 compulsory questions) and Section-B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value (10 numerical based questions out of which only 5 are compulsory to be attempted).
- In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
- All question will be of 4 marks and in MCQs there will be negative marking of (-1) on incorrect attempt.

No, you don't need to pay fee if you change your category from ews to general category.
This is because,
The charge to be paid during correction is equal to the difference in the the application fee for the two categories.
For example,
application fee for SC category is rupees 325 while for general category the application fee is 650 so in the case if one changes his category from SC to general category then in that case you will have to pay rupees 650 -325 = 325.
But you don't need to pay any charge as the application fee for both general and e w s category is 650 Rupees .
Correction Window for jee main February session will be opened on 19th January 2021 and correction can be made using correction window till 21st january 2021 .
Once the correction window gets opened, you need to visit the official page of JEE Mains i. e jeemain . nta . nic . in and login using your registration number and password and then you will be able to rectify your mistakes
But yes , while using the correction window you should make sure that all your details are correct because once you use the correction window , you won't get another chance to use the correction window again as it is a single time facility. So, do check all the details twice.
