The written exam consists of two sections- Mathematics and General Ability Test.
All the questions in the exam would be objective.
120 questions will be from Mathematics section with a total of 300 marks while the General Ability
section will consist of 150 questions with a total of 600 marks. There is also a provision of negative marking.
If you're in class 11 then you have enough time to prepare for your written test. Follow the NCERT
book for the Mathematics section and keep your concepts clear. The questions are of standard level
and you can solve them easily if your concepts are clear. Regularity and hard work with focus is the
key to success. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY. Once your concepts are clear and you are over with the
NCERT books you can solve the books by ARIHANT. This will help you in your boards also.
For the General Ability section the questions will be from English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
Social Science. Biology will be of class 10th level and for Social Science you can prepare from books
from ARIHANT. English , Physics and Chemistry will be of 10+2 level so learn the basic principles
nicely.
Now for interview the questions will be mainly related to defence sector like how important is
defence for our country or why do you want to join the defence forces?. And finally the Medical fitness
part come
First of all, its good to know a clear goal at your age. You have about 1 - 1.5 years I suppose since age isn't mentioned. This is enough time.
NDA comprised of 2 papers, a maximum of 900 marks can be awarded
1. MATHEMATICS
It consists of 120 question and maximum marks are 300.
2. GENERAL ABILITY TEST
It consists of 150 questions and maximum marks are 600.
It's a very good decision to start preparing for NDA from class 11th.
Basically, the syllabus consists of maths and general ability test.
For the preparation of maths, your class 9,10,11,12th concept should be Clear because most of the questions are asked from these classes only. The questions are not very difficult what they test is your patience because you have to answer 120 question which is almost not possible within 2.5 hours.
So start your preparation accordingly .focus on your NCERT syllabus lots of questions come from your textbook and the format of questions is also taken from NCERT, the language of questions and difficulty level may change but the concept remains same. Try to solve more and more questions so that at the end of class 12th your speed of answering the question increase. Most important thing focus on quality, not quantity. But you are having enough time you can easily crack it.
If you think you are not able to deliver it by self then I would suggest you should join any coaching class. But try to do it by yourself.
2. GENERAL ABILITY TEST -
This paper comprises of 2 sections.
History
Geography
Civics
Physics
Chemistry
Current affairs
English section consists of 50 questions and of 200 marks this is scoring area because the questions asked in this section is the very easy only thing you need to do is revise all the participles you have studied so far, solve some questions based on
Error
Omission
Jumbled words
Now the 2nd section which is of general awareness, this is the most important section lots of students fail to qualify this section as you need to have a knowledge of SST and the current affairs.
In this part you need to focus on history, geo, civics, for that you should purchase some books and read it, one thing you can also do is that revise your class 8,9,10 SST books. This will help you to score good marks
The physics and chemistry are very easy you don't need to prepare for that your course is enough for that.
For current affairs be in touch with what is happening in your surroundings.watch news channels, read magazines and newspaper
Few books you can use are -
For the written part, don't stress out from now.
Just make your Maths part strong. It will help a lot because minimum 50% questions are from Class 11.
If you are a bulky guy, do a little bit of exercise daily. Don't hit the gym. You are not required to have a body.
Don't think about the interviews so early. You will get a 2 months time after you clear the UPSC. Those 2 months are enough.
Hope this helps.
