For admission to universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University etc, you need to apply for the programmes by registering yourself.

- Registration - Every year the universities opens a online application portal for a stipulated time period only. candidates need to register before the last date for admissions as it is the first step.
- Entrance Exam - for any programme, the universities conduct common entrance test which a candidate need to qualify for admission. The universities provides pattern, syllabus and candidates need to prepare accordingly to qualify.
- Result of Entrance Exam - then the result are announced for the CET and candidates who qualify are shortlisted for personal interview and counselling/seat allotment
- Cutoff and Counselling - the universities prepare cutoff and merit list for seat allotment and only candidates who meet the cut off marks and eligibility criteria are allotted the seats
