Hello, Aspirant. There are several ways to get admission in various pharmacy colleges for pursuing M.Pharm.

First and foremost way to get admission for M.Pharm in top pharmacy colleges of India is attempting and clearing the competitive exam of GPAT. Graduates' Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national-level competitive exam that is a gateway for students who want to pursue M.Pharm from top Pharmacy colleges of India. If a candidate qualifies GPAT by securing required marks to be eligible for participating in counselling process, he/she will get opportunity to get GPAT Scholarship from Government of India. This scholarship can be used for 24 months or for the duration of the course  (from the date of commencement of classes till the date of completion of the classes.) Currently, the stipend of GPAT scholarship qualified students is INR 12400 per month.

It is worth mentioning that, NIPER ( National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research) also conduct their own entrance test, NIPERJEE which can only be attempted if a candidate has a valid Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) score.

Another way to get admission in M.Pharm is without qualifying GPAT. It is not mandatory for everyone to attempt and qualify GPAT in order to get chance in pursuing Postgraduate course in Pharmacy. There are many colleges who either conduct their own entrance exams or accept graduates through merit lists based on marks secured in B.Pharm. Although the minimum percentage requirement varies from one college to other, you must have at least scored 50 percent marks in the qualifying examination. Some Pharmacy institutions also conduct interviews for admission. The merit is then prepared on the basis of your academic qualifications, entrance examination scores, and performance in the interview round.

Here is a lit of some s tate-level exams that are alternative to GPAT and can be attempted to get chance for pursuing PG course in Pharmacy from colleges of respective states:

  • Karnataka PGCET
  • Gujarat PGCET
  • UPSEE
  • AP PGCET Pharmacy
  • MET
  • TS PGCET
  • HPCET
  • UKSEE

The next list shows some renowned colleges which conduct their own entrance tests, as an alternative to GPAT:

  • BITS Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad - BITSAT
  • GD Goenka University - GATA
  • GLA University, Mathura - GLAET
  • Bharati Vidyapith University - BVP CET
