IAS Exam eligibility as per the latest notification of UPSC (Union Public Services Commission
) is discussed in this article.We hope this post to clear all doubts regarding the number of attempts, age limits, educational qualification etc permitted for UPSC Civil Services Exam (popularly known asIAS exam

IAS Exam Eligibility




The minimum age to appear for IAS Exam is 21 years. This means that the candidatemust haveat least21 years of age on 1st August of that given year when the exam is held. For example, if the candidate is appearing for 2018 prelims, he/she should be above 21 years of age by Aug 1, 2018.

To become an IAS, you have to first give an entrance exam which is popularly known as UPSC Civil Service Exam. The UPSC exam is fdivided into three parts:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Interview Section

The candidates who clear preliminary exams are allowed to attend the main examination and then those who clear the main examination are alllowed to attend the interview section. More than 9 Lakhs Candidates appear for the same UPSC CSE every year, but only 1000 are selected for 24 Services of UPSC. Top Few Hundered Candidates are selected as an IAS Officer.
