I suggest that you should start with standard books on political science like O.P Gauba's Introduction to Political Theory and lakshmikant's Public Administration.

And for current affairs make a habit of reading newspaper. It will also help you in all your competitive exam. Also you have to focus on important topics with exam point of view and then study accordingly.
