BHU English department comes under the Faculty of Arts and it is one of the most renowned and reputed institutions. The course has 72 maximum intake for PG. More than 5k students appear for this MA English test. The competition is very tough to get into this course The department is fully equipped with brilliant professors who have not just studied only from India but even from foreign countries. The HOD Prof. MS Pandey is the most disciplined and regular in his work and assure the same from his colleagues. The English department also organises the guest lecture on every Saturday. It is an open floor for every student to ask questions fro the guest speaker from a particular topic. Because of excellent participation in various events in BHU, the department is credited with one of the best under FOA.

Viable and attractive Placements opportunities are available for post-graduation students at BHU. On average, around 3.5-4 lacs per annum is offered to a PG degree holder. The highest package was of around 6.8 lacs per annum. NBFC'S AND PVT BANKING INSTITUTIONS conduct placement drives.
