Chemical engineers have wide variety of employment. They develop solutions to environmental problems such as pollution control and remediation . Also they work in chemical manufacturing industry and they improve, monitor and control manufacturing process.
This branch has specialities like heavy chemical, environment, biochemical, nuclear, space, fine chemicals, petroleum, polymers, Engineering designs, municipal etc.
This branch never goes out of style because this is related to processes that convert chemicals into valuable forms.
But yes, it requires lot of hardwork and expertise to get a good job or good career. If you go for higher studies after BTech then you can have much better career in this field than any other field.
