How is Cummins Pune college compared to Thapar patiala
Hi Shreya Mandal!
Greetings!
I don't know much about cummins but I can tell u about TIET.
Let’s break it down into points on basis of which a student views his college.
-
Infrastructure
There is a great amount of construction going on right now. And from the looks of it, the new Academic area is going to be bad*ss. The new hostels erected in last years are great and have all the commodities one can ask for.
So, INFRASTRUCTURE = GOING WAY UP! -
Faculty
There are new teachers being recruited as the intake of the college is increasing way to much. I’ve had my share of good and bad teachers but I have to say most of them are great and really helpful. Not to name any but SOM (School of Mathematics) is by far the best Academic Part of the College.
So, FACULTY = UP! -
Student Quality
The increasing number of students has resulted in low cutoff which means that students who don’t deserve to be here, are here. Also since we have Punjab Quota here, which means cutoff for Punjab Residents is even lower (Given ~40)
So, STUDENT QUALITY = DOWN! -
Student Activities
There are many events being organised by Societies/Student Chapters/Student Forums/Festivals so it’s evident that there is something or the other going on at all time.
So, STUDENT ACTIVITIES = UPPP! -
Ranking/Research
Thapar was recently ranked 20th by NIRF, a well deserved one. It will take years and years to beat IITs but step by step approach seems to be working.
Research opportunities here have been on a rise. We have a government funded Satellite Program too in place which has both Students and Teachers.
So, Ranking/Research = UP! -
Placement
This one I am not sure about, the Highest Salary offered is increasing no doubt and so is the Average Placement. But since students are increasing, I don’t know where this leaves us.
So, PLACEMENT = UP but SHADY!
SO on this basis i think TIET would be better for you.
