Well let us first divide IIM's into three categories: the old IIM's, the new IIM's and the baby IIM's. I'm also going to assume that you have an idea about what IIM's are old IIM, what are new and the baby IIM's. Also let us assume the criteria's on which we are evaluating are faculty, peer group, academics and placements.

Baby IIM's are newly opened and are guided by the old IIM's so comparing them with DMS, IIT D would not be fair at this point in time.

Now coming to new IIM's there is crunch of full-time faculty in comparison (please note that they do have very qualified prof's) whereas at DMS, IIT D there is a great student to faculty ratio since there are many full time students and we have many foreign professor's we have on campus to teach us certain courses (can't comment about this aspect with respect to new IIM's)

Now onto the next criteria of peer group, almost everyone here has a CAT percentile of 97-98 and some even scoring above 99 and those who are below 97 percentile have ample amount of work experience with a strong profile. As compared to new IIM's they have a varied range of percentile scores but are mostly in the same range. In some of the old IIM's you will find many students in the same percentile range.

About academics, we have a semester system here and you get plenty of time to pursue your interest or to enhance your profile further. While IIM's in general have a trimester and a very hectic system.

About placements, we have a decent line up of companies each year with great profiles and decent salaries. Since we have a smaller batch size compared to the old IIM's or even some of the new IIM's, you will find it less competitive during placements. (For figures you can always check out the placement reports of each institute)

Further more, DMS IITD was recently ranked 4th by NIRF and 6th by Career360 among all the b-schools in India.

I hope this answer helps you.

DMS IIT Delhi comes after the old IIMs and some of the reputated private colleges like SP Jain, XLRI, FMS, Narsee Monjee and a few more.

Studies will be there also good. You will be able to get a bigger exposure because of being part of IIT Delhi which is one of the top most engineering college of our country. Placement will be also there decent in comparison to its fees which is quite less than IIMs. But don't expect the same response from IIT Delhi while doing MBA as other engineers get up there during placements. Still overall it's a pretty decent college.

For getting admission there you need to get at least 90 percentile for getting a call for interview and to make sure in getting admission aim for above 95 percentile. Other than the percentile it also depends on many other factors like your 10th, 12th and graduation %, work experience and many more.

All the best for your preparations and exam!!

DMS IIT is not comparable to the old IIMs. The old IIMs are better in all aspects than DMS IIT. Even the new IIMs are doing well with regards to placements. If you want to do a MBA from an IIT, SJMSOM is the best choice you have.
