I don't study in JIPMER but I have attended their conferences and also made a few friends at JIPMER. JIPMER is a whole different level. It is among the best institutes in India, highly accredited for Medical And Research opportunities. The campus is huge and they have various specialty blocks. I've attended their surgical skills workshop as well as other seminars which where conducted by their own faculties and I will vouch that it was a wonderful learning experience. The students there are highly focussed and It's not very easy to get a seat in this institute (I'm sure you are well aware). As far as patient load, there is a massive patient load there and just not from Tamil Nadu but from neighboring states as well! If you are planning to try for JIPMER, I suggest you go ahead with it. It will be worth every painstaking hour you spend preparing for it.
