How is mining engineering?what are scope??
Mining engineering is an engineering discipline that applies science and technology to the extraction of minerals from the earth. A mining engineer may manage any phase of mining operations-from exploration and discovery of the mineral source, through feasibility study, mine design, development of plans, production and operations to mine closure. Students studying mining generally gets placed in core mining sector. Mining Engineers are in demand in Gulf countries (basically oil-producing countries) like Saudi Arabia, UAE/Dubai, Qatar and Kuwait. These countries have hubs of crude oil, petroleum and others. A mining engineer hired by any (private or public sector) company usually has to perform the tasks listed below.
- Suggesting technology and ore processing without causing any harm to the environment
- Technological intervention in different prospects of mining such as mineral discovery, mineral determination, surface mining and blasting
- Planning for mines, tunnels and shafts for underground operations and design plans
- Integrating knowledge of geology, economics, rock mechanics and researching and suggesting new designs for mining.
Top colleges in India that offers mining engineering are ISM Dhanbad, IIT-BHU Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Raipur, UPES Dehradun, VNIT Nagpur, Acharya Institute of Technology Banglore
