Hello,
The total marks for JEE Main paper 1 is 300 marks. In each subject there will be 20 objective type questions and 10 numerical based question out which a candidate has to answer 5 numerical based questions. For every correct answer 4 marks will be awarded and for every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted. There is no negative marking for numerical based questions or unanswered questions. The total number of questions are 90 questions out of which 75 questions need to be answered (numerical based questions only have choice).
Suppose that you have answered 45 objective type questions and 10 numerical based questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Now 35 objective questions are correctly answered which means you have scored 35*4=140 marks remaining 10 objective questions are wrong so for each question one marks will be deducted which means 1*10=10 marks so out of 140 marks 10 marks will be deducted which means 140-10=130 marks. Now you have correctly answered numerical based questions only 4 numerical based questions out of 10 numerical based questions that you have attempted so you have score 4*4=16 marks. As there is no negative marking for numerical based questions no marks will deducted. Now the over all score will be marks scored in objective type questions+numerical based questions which is 130+16=146 marks. The overall JEE Main score will be 146 marks out of 300 marks.
Hello Aspirant,
See negative marks are calculated for each incorrect answer in Objective type questions so each MCQ is of 4 marks and the negative marking for each incorrect attempt is -1. So let me make you more clear by taking an example, suppose you have attempted 50 questions with correct answer and 10 answers with incorrect answers then your total score will come out to be
(4*50) + (10*(-1)) = 190 out of 300
For February session of JEE-Main 2021, result is expected by March 7th.
