Mechanical department is one of the best department in Jadhavpur University. The faculty, facilities, etc. everything are very good. This department is comparable to some of the IIT's as well as NIT's. Many core companies come for placements and almost 80-90% students are placed.

Yes not only mechanical engineers but almost all of the core branches are facing the same situation. But the contribution of core branches cannot be neglected and if you are placed in core company or government job nothing can decrease your importance. This can be due to market decline in all countries but there are many opportunities for mechanical engineers.
