How is the outside environment of Jadavpur college
In short, AWESOME! You won't get an urban university campus housing multiple faculties under the same roof very easily in India. Not only will you get a healthy gender ratio in the general university student populace (thanks to faculty of arts) , you also get a wide perspective( because of multitude of mainstream, interdisciplinary, and niche subjects being taught in Jadavpur University ) and the chance to make friends from outside your stream (may be engineering as well as non engineering). The atmosphere is very open, progressive and free from interference (and yes there's no dress code!). Professors are generally very friendly and will go out of their way to help you out. Multiple faculties means multiple fests and you are invited to all of them (and you don't need to contribute a single rupee for attending one). There's no ragging and seniors and alumni will be accessible to you just on one call of "dada" (dada means elder brother in bengali). You will be allowed to progress at your own comfortable speed but still be subjected to continuous evaluation throughout the year. Politics is entirely (repeat! *ENTIRELY*) voluntary and no one will even "request" you (not even once) to participate in any protest. Mingle with top minds from eastern region on a daily basis and join research (and JU has some top quality labs with some seriously nice equipment), or start-up, or participate in one or more student clubs and pursue your passion for almost free (take your pick from photography, quiz, debate, mountaineering, Radio JU etc etc). At the end of your course, come out as a successful graduate free from any student loan burden, and as a responsible citizen and contribute further to your and JU's growth.
