UPES is very famous for petroleum engineering . established in the year 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. UPES is not somebody's first choice for any branch. It is the second or maybe the third choice for nearly all the students studying there. UPES is a good college considering the type of industry specific branches it has in the offering. ... The average package of the college is around 3.5 LPA with almost 93% placements.

UPES is a statutory University legislated by the State Government of Uttaranchal. UPES has been included in the List of Universities maintained and approved by the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act. Being a University and approved by the UGC , it is not mandatory for UPES to seek the approval of AICTE.
